Choosing a Treating Psychiatrist:

In order to participate in this program, clients must remain under the care of a treating psychiatrist who shall perform medication management services, participate in treatment planning and be available 24/7 for crisis services. Clients may choose the agency's contract psychiatrist or clients may choose a private psychiatrist (private psychiatrist must agree to review treatment plans and be available for crises in addition to medication management).  If a private psychiatrist is chosen for medication management, clients can still receive all other covered MHR services.

Our contract psychiatrist performs medication assessment, monitoring and education services (no counseling services are performed by agency psychiatrist).  These appointments are performed once a month during business hours only.  Since the dates for the monthly appointments are provided by the contract psychiatrist, we are unable to offer choices to our clients.  Both the caretaker and child must attend if our psychiatrist is chosen.  We do not provide transportation to the medical appointments. However, Medicaid does offer non-emergency transportation to medical appointments- certain restrictions apply.
